About Elephant Talk
8 piece percussive-funk band formed in Canberra around 1987 by vocalist and bassist with original drummer Ian Blackburn who was later replaced by formerly of Western Australian band . Elephant Talk featured a 3-piece horn section made up of French horn, saxophone and the trumpeter from Canberra ska band , alongside a guitarist and percussionist. Part of the group decamped to Sydney early in 1991 after the band did a gig a at the University of Sydney Roundhouse, but regrouped with Sydney musicians under a variety of new names including . The original drummer was also in an earlier Canberra band also called Elephant Talk but who were more angular and post-punk in outlook.
